STEFFONIC RECORDING
Website: www.steffonicrecording.com
Location: West Lincoln, 402-430-4655
Hours: The new studio is currently under construction and should be completed by the end of the year. Until that time, I'm available for small projects. When the studio is completed hours will vary by appointment.
Rates: Rates tend to vary by project.
At this point studio rental is $100 per day (12 hour day).
Engineering fees are $15.00 per hour.
Flat fees for projects are sometimes available on a case by case basis.
Bands may choose bring in their own qualified engineer to record their project for them.
Occasionally, I will agree to barter for services or equipment.
Gear, engineers, philosophy: Well, for starters, I have the spring reverb that was used to record CW McCall's - Convoy! So, that's pretty cool. But seriously, I make it a point to have great sounding professional equipment at a price that the average band can afford.
My philosophy is that you should have a good time recording, you should walk out of my studio with something that we can both be proud of and you should be able to afford dinner when you get done. It’s also hard to argue against $100 per day for access to a dedicated space and all the equipment that fills it.
Past projects: Over the last couple of years I've worked with The Damnit Dolls, Ship it on the Frisco, Harmonic Dissidents, Daniel Kruse, John Dell and a bunch of other people
that you've probably never heard of!

ERIC MEDLEY MUSIC PRODUCTIONS
Website: www.ericmedley.com
Location: South Carolina
Hours: By appointment
Rates: On a per session basis. I typically charge a flat fee per song mixed.
Rates range from $100-$500 per song. It’s more if I’ll be doing a lot of production/editing. Straight-up mixing is $100 per song.
For recording/producing a record I charge on a per-basis fee. I typically charge a flat rate plus materials/expenses/travel costs.
Gear, engineers, philosophy: I suppose ‘me.’ My gear is pretty standard stuff. I use both old and new analog and digital gear. I’m a Pro Tools (Mac and PC) based studio with lots of old/new tube/solid state mic preamps and mics. I mix from Pro Tools using an analog mix buss or digital mixing (in the box). I almost always mix to ¼” 30ips analog tape. (Scully 280B recorder – modified to run at 30ips with SECO custom record/playback heads and preamps.) I have B&W and Event 20/20bas monitors I have both the Pro Tools and Apogee A/D and D/A converters. I typically use the Apogees. For a complete list see my website www.ericmedley.com
Past projects: The Millions, Mercy Rule, Soul Support, Casting Pearls, Birdcage Walk , Common Ground, Sideshow, Roosevelt Franklin, Yardapes, Blue Moon Ghetto
The Plowbabys – St. Joseph , MO, Bungalow Trailer Park – Kansas City , MO, Lullaby For The Working Class, We’d Rather Be Flying, Bright Eyes, Cursive, Happy Dog, Her Flyaway Manner, Killdozer, Peer Puppets, Opium Taylor. Beyond, Bone China, Clark County, Echoing Gree, Free Fall – (National Award winning Beatrice Barbershop Quartet), The Geckos, Heros and Villains. Hour Slave, Johnny Rocket Science, Jumpin’ Kate and the Rollover Sisters, Meelee, Middle Monkey, Red Max, Rosebud, Sawhorse, The Self Righteous Brothers, The Sissies, Stew, Think.
Current projects: I’m working on a Singer/Songwriter from Colorado Springs, CO. I’m waiting for tracks to mix from Adam Fagelson from Pittsburg , PA. I’ve mixed two of his previous records. I’m also waiting for tracks from a Sleepover in Lincoln. I’m mastering some high-end demo stuff for a speaker manufacturer. (24/96Khz tracks)
Future plans: Get back more into the analog side of recording again. I’d like to get back to a 24-track analog recorder and a large mixing desk.

IAN AEILLO
Website: www.myspace.com/soniccontrol
Location: Omaha
Hours: Whenever, wherever.
Rates: $300 a day.
Gear, engineers, philosophy:
Philosophy: I will only record you if I like you and nobody else will make a record that sounds remotely close to how ours will sound. At the same time, there are no secrets in recordings. Anyone who says "I have this secret piece of gear" is a jerk. I have 'better' gear than most local home studios. Is my work better? Eh, no. Well, it's subjective. Yes? Maybe?
Brendan McGinn for example. Dude has an Mbox and some mics. That man has an amazing sense of tone, rhythm, and style. I've never heard anything even close to as good as what he does. Honestly, every time I record an album, I think to myself "Would Brendan like this?" I am constantly trying to record albums that sound as good as some of the Bright Calm Blue stuff he did. I'm still trying. Haven't gotten there yet. I use a Urei graphic equalizer to compress. That's my big idea.
Past projects: Cursive, Alessi, Bright Eyes, Maria Taylor, Matthew Sweet, Good With Guns, Lightspeed Champion, The Good Life, Darla Farmer.
Current projects: Pre-Production with an artist from out of town.
Future plans: Debate whether I want to keep doing this.
