(Please Note: This will be the first of a run of shows that local live electronica group Somasphere will be playing with Big Gigantic. The run passes through Lincoln, Lawrence, St. Louis and Fayetteville. This is just the beginning of what could be a great year for Somasphere as they have been getting requests to play all over the country.)
Boulder's Big Gigantic has been killing the live electronic music scene as of late. Since the beginning of 2009, they went from playing a few club gigs around Colorado to opening numerous dates for STS9 (Omaha and Lawrence in October). They have played shows with Shpongle, EOTO, Disco Biscuits, Bonobo, Bassnectar, Pnuma Trio and countless others. They are scheduled to open for Disco Biscuits and STS9 during their New Years runs at the end of this year. They killed the festival circuit this past summer and now are headlining shows throughout the country. Next stop... the Bourbon Theatre in Lincoln December 3rd!
One thing Dominic Lalli (Motet saxophonist/producer) is not afraid of is trying new things. Big Gigantic is the latest project from Lalli and drummer Jeremy Salken. The two-man sound-machine of Lalli and Salken showcases an array of gripping composition combining elements of a DJ and a live band setup, mixing thoughtful melodic ideas, with pulsating dance tunes. Big Gigantic flavors the electronic music scene with powerful sax solos and soulful synth lines on top of super hot beats. It is no surprise they have been playing numerous sold out shows leaving crowds begging for more.

Opening the show in Lincoln is local live electronica studs Somasphere. This will be the first night of a run of shows that Somapshere will be playing with Big Gigantic throughout the region. Somasphere will be supporting The Faint in Omaha on Monday, December 28th as they were requested specifically to open by the group. I promise this will be just a warm up for 2010 as it looks like this could be the "Year of the Somasphere."
